Located in Gijón, Spain, Biogas Fuel Cell S.A (BFC) is a SME that was set up in 2003 to provide technological and environmental services. BFC’s current main aim is developing R&D projects biogas production, management and new applications. To achieve this, BFC is collaborating on several international, national and regional important projects. As a result, BFC has become an expert in several fields which are summarized in the main R&D activities showed below:
- Anaerobic digestion process optimization
from organic wastes
- Biogas cleaning systems
- Biogas utilization with Solid Oxide Fuel
Cells (SOFC)
- High added-value product development from
biogas
- New applications of PEM fuel cells
- Renewable hydrogen production using

- GtS - is an engineering firm engaged, in the broadest sense of this
word, in gas treatment. GtS has more than 50 years of in-house
experience in the field of natural
gas and biogas processing and utilization. Furthermore, since July
2005 the quality of GtS is certified according to ISO 9001:2000.
GtS will incorporate in the BIOGRID project its unique purification
system developed for the treatment of biogas from landfills and
digesters. GtS’ system is designed to upgrade biogas to natural-gas
quality by using a compact, all-in-one
green unit. Because the final step of the system sequestrates the
separated CO2, the biogas is upgraded by a clean process
with no release of environmental contaminants.
GtS’ main business is divided in the following four services:
- Consultancy
- Engineering
- Hardware delivery
